Welcome to Riverbank Elementary School
The Riverbank School Community works collaboratively to deliver a focused, research and standards-based program to educate and develop empowered, motivated, responsible and respectful learners who master grade level standards. Go Otters!
One Student Can Make a Difference
When Jess Aldrete, a fifth grade student at Riverbank, saw that Loaves and Fishes, a local organization that feeds the hungry and shelters the homeless, had collected a pallet full of school supplies, he wondered where they were going. It seemed like they collected more than they could use. Jess had an idea. What if we had them delivered to Riverbank and distributed to students who needed them here. He negotiated with Loaves and Fishes and last month a huge box holding hundreds of pounds of supplies was delivered. Because of Jess' idea we are now able to provide much-needed school supplies to students at our school and have even shared them with our neighbor school, Elkhorn.
So, a great big Riverbank Otters thank you goes out to Jess for thinking of others and acting on his idea.
Remember that you, too, can make a difference. If you have an idea, share it with an adult and help to make the world a better place. You are never too young to make a difference.
WSPD Police Dog "BOLO" Visits First Grade
Officer Mark Flatley came out with his full blooded German Shepard dog named Bolo (stands for be on the lookout) on Tuesday, Oct. 1st. He talked to all our first grade classes about his dog and how his job is to protect him and be able to sniff out bombs, drugs, etc. He demonstrated how obedient Bolo was by giving him numerous commands. He answered questions from the kids and they were all able to pet Bolo.
